Hi, I’m Sara Weilhammer Đorđević, a Toronto-based children’s book illustrator and character designer.

I've loved drawing, books, and cartoons since childhood—illustration became my way of telling stories. With a fine arts background, I approach my work like painting, layering each piece to create immersive, expressive artwork.

Before focusing on children’s books, I worked as a 2D artist in the gaming industry, where I designed characters and created backgrounds. Over time, I became a lead 2D artist, guiding visual development and collaborating with creative teams. This experience sharpened my storytelling and design skills, which I now bring into every book I illustrate.

My colorful, whimsical style is inspired by fairytales, childhood memories, and old Disney cartoons. I love bringing stories to life by imagining their worlds and characters—whether it’s a heartwarming tale or an adventurous journey.

I specialize in picture books but also offer book cover design, concept art, storyboarding, and character design. When I’m not illustrating, I find inspiration in nature, old cities, and everyday stories. I’m also a lifelong animal lover and devoted cat person.
